Ekkow RSS Crawler Documentation

Last updated: August 8, 2026.

Overview

Ekkow provides the strategic infrastructure to editorial organizations that distribute news across digital ecosystems. Our customers are publishers who can register their unique RSS feed URLs  with the Ekkow’s RSS Ingestion system for automated content ingestion. The RSS feeds are regularly monitored by the RSS Crawler bot which fetches content of all new updates. The total RSS ingestion system operates strictly within mutually agreed upon terms and contractually defined boundaries to ensure complete compliance and transparency with publishers, legal regulations, and data privacy laws.

  1. Core Operational Principles
    1. RSS Feed Aggregation: Periodically crawls designated RSS feed endpoints to detect newly published content.
    2. Article Fetching: Retrieves full-text articles and associated media directly linked within the crawled RSS feeds.
    3. Opt-In Licensing Model: Only crawls feeds where the domain owner or publisher has established a binding legal agreement with Ekkow.
    4. Restricted Data Processing: Ingested articles are used exclusively for the explicit purposes authorized within the signed legal agreement.
  2. User-Agent Identification

The crawler identifies itself via a standardized HTTP User-Agent string on every request:

  1. User-Agent String: Ekkow
  2. IP Ranges & Verification To distinguish authentic Ekkow crawler traffic from unauthorized crawlers or spoofed headers, all requests originate from dedicated server infrastructure operating in the IP Ranges mentioned below.
  3. IP Ranges:
    1. 136.111.158.60
    2. 35.239.251.193
    3. 34.41.16.173
    4. 34.59.86.63
    5. 34.67.1.246
  1. Verification

Webmasters can verify legitimate requests by checking incoming IPs against the IP range listed in heading (2.c).
